Inter-library Loan: Borrow From Another Library
Our library is connected to other libraries throughout the state and nation. If you can't find an item in our library, ask library staff to help you get it from another library through inter-library loan.
Our library buys the books and materials that we think are most wanted by our community. Because of limited resources we can’t buy everything that is published, but we can usually get it from another library. Our library is part of a vast network of participating libraries that are willing to loan out materials to other libraries. If we don't have the material that you wish to borrow, please let us know and we will borrow it for you.
Inter-library Loan (ILL) Requests can be made in a couple ways.
- Call library at 319-988-4217 and have the librarian place your request over the phone.
- Stop into the library and ask a librarian.
There is no fee to borrow material from another library; however, you must be a Hudson Public Library cardholder. Most of the items are delivered to our library within one to two weeks. The loan periods vary, but you are able to keep most items at least 3 weeks. The staff will inform you of the loan period when you pick up the item. Items can usually be renewed, but you must call the library at (319) 988-4217 to renew. Unclaimed ILL materials will be kept at Hudson Public Library for three weeks, then returned to the lending library.
